Kit is a visual artist, teacher, interior designer, columnist, essential Feng Shui practitioner and life coach - WHEW !! She is definitely one of our more versatile and high energy instructors. Kit has worked with collage and mixed media for over 20 years and her goal is to "create delight by combining found objects, ephemera and paper to tell a new story." Kit began her career as a bilingual third grade teacher, but then studied interior design to better restore her 'fixer upper' home. Her business, A Fresh Look, strives to help others 'create beauty, harmony and order' in their homes. Kit also writes a nationally syndicated design column for "Content That Works". As a lifelong flea marketer, scavenger and pack rat, Kit has always been attracted to objects from other eras and has honed her refurbishing, recycling and recombining skills. She began to integrate her finds into collages and assemblages and soon developed her own style and voice. Kit later discovered a collage class at the Palo Alto Art Center and was delighted to find other artists who shared her mania and began teaching her techniques there. She is an organized, efficient and creative teacher who consistently receives high ratings from her students. A highlight of this workshop is Sunday, when you'll see 'alfombras' -
carpets made of sawdust, flowers and pine needles that families design
and create in the streets in front of their homes. They do this each
Sunday during Lent, before processions pass by -- hundreds of people
from churches carrying 'andas' - heavy floats - on their shoulders,
with figures of Jesus Christ, the Virgin Mary and other saints. *** Total package price, including tuition, lodging in lovely colonial style hotels, a hearty breakfast each morning, ground transportation and some pretty interesting field trips is approximately US$1,845. Art supplies are not included. ** If you'd like to join us, just fill out and send in the registration form on our web page. |
